Hello! My name is Katrina, and I am a recent MLIS grad. I currently hold a temporary position as a Paraprofessional Youth Services Librarian at a lovely library near Madison, Wisconsin, and hope to find a permanent position soon.
I am new to librarianship, but know that I have truly found my passion. I am stoked about all things youth services, and particularly enjoy planning storytimes. I have just started getting my feet wet with Toddler Storytimes for ages 1-2, and have also done Lapsit Storytimes for 0-3 year olds.
One of the best things I have discovered about this field is that most youth services librarians are willing to be transparent and are eager to share the things they do–both successes and failures. This blog is a way for me to contribute to the conversation, by keeping a record of the storytimes and programs I do, along with evaluating their success and making note of the things I’d do differently next time. I also plan to share pictures and instructions for some of the things I make and do as a youth services librarian.
I hope you are inspired by some of the things you see and read in this blog, as I have most definitely gotten many ideas and encouragement from reading other Youth Services blogs!
